The FWD South China Tigers are the Greater Bay Area’s first professional rugby club, based here in Hong Kong. The Tigers have been created to take part in the inaugural Showcase Series of the new regional rugby competition focused on the Asia Pacific, Global Rapid Rugby. The squad has now been formed, featuring players from the Hong Kong National Team, top Hong Kong domestic premiership players, plus four international marquee signings; UK Premiership’s top all-time try scorer Tom Varndell, Rio Olympic Gold Medallist and former World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year Samisoni Viriviri, and former China National VII’s & XV’s players Ma Chong and Liu Jun-kui. James Cunningham and Liam Slatem will be taking up the co-captaincy, and Craig Hammond has been appointed Head Coach, with Andrew Hall as Team Manager.
